Final Reflection
You've had the chance to design, develop, and engineer a commercial project for a site.

While many things were only a simulation of the real thing, some aspects were exactly what an engineer/architect must deal with.

I was most invovled with the over all design of project. I spaced everything out a stuff like that. I change some places of rooms, i took two rooms out of a area. The rooms just didnt fit right. What ever i did, with the dimentioned, it didnt work. i would make it bigger, so there would be more room. I learned that civil engineering is more of the strucural deal, and architure is more of the fation of the building. But the two groups work together to have the same end resalt.

Heat-loss Calculations
Q = AU (delta) T A=area of material U=1/R-value of material (delta)T =temperature differential

Total area of walls 9895.68 square feet

Total area of windows 958 square feet

Total Area of doors 198 square feet

Take each area and divide it by the R-value for the material.

Multiply by the temperature differential.

(outside temp during summer-desired temp, and then the same time for winter temp.)

Add these values together and add a blog entry showing the BTUH for each material and the total BTUH for the structure.

Waste Water, Water Supply, and Surface Water Runoff.
There will be excessive runoff from rain, snow melting, etc.. where this building is located. However, with a pond right beside it, the drainage will flow directly to the pond for excess water.

All waste water will be tied into pre existing waste water lines. Therfore no new waste water lines will be needed.

Water Supply:500 ppd * 50 gpd = 25000 gpd

1. What course of action should an architect or civil engineer take if the proposed slope of the Jolt Coffee Shop tie-in pipe is less than ¼” of drop per foot of pipe?--

They would need to find a way to raise the point of exit from the building or look into installing a septic tank.

2. Why is it important for wastewater from a structure(s) to not be toxic to microorganisms?--

The microorganisms will eat away at the sludge built up in the septic tank so that it doesnt build up so fast.

3. Why is proper wastewater management critical for the health and welfare of society and the environment? --

If wastewater is not treated, it will destroy freshwater ecposystems and set off an ufortunate chain of events in which everyone ends up dying!
